Edible Forager Hedge Plants
Traditionally hedgerows were used by foragers to find free food. Growing edible plants can also add interest to a hedge which would otherwise be grown purely for the function of blocking a view, defining a boundary or keeping out intruders.
There are a wide variety of hedging plants which produce flowers and berries either suitable for eating raw or flavouring delicious jellies, tarts and drinks. Always be very careful when foraging for wild foods - you wouldn't want to find out that you've eaten the berries of Purging buckthorn in error - great for butterflies and birds, but not humans!
