Fast-Growing Hedging Plants

This section contains all the species we have that are fast-growing, so you can get the mature height of hedge that you want in as few years as possible. The benefit is that you can start off with cheaper plants and yet still achieve a tall mature hedge.

Our list starts with Leylandii, the only "very fast" species (up to 90cm pa).

All the other fast-growing species are still manageable, but they will need to be trimmed regularly (probably every six weeks in the summer if you want to keep them neat). 

The main benefit of a fast-growing hedging species is that it achieves the finished appearance quickly. Some of the species shown below are available as inexpensive bare root plants, and buying fast-growing bare roots is the cheapest way to achieve a tall hedge.
