Yellow and green medium sized leaves, semi evergreen (most stay on the plants in Winter but some do drop and the Winter appearance is somewhat &quot;thinner&quot; than when the new growth appears in Spring
Very pollution tolerant so a terrific species for urban areas and it is often seen widely planted with every house in a street having a Golden Privet hedge
Non-native but we do also have Wild Privet which is native
Toxic if eaten
Quite fast growing and suitable for all situations other than very wet soils

Evergreen with flat sprays of aromatic conifer foliage
Good in sunny situations and also shade-tolerant
Moderate to fast growth rate (45 - 60cm pa)
Responds well to trimming and is easy to shape neatly
Good for hedges 1.5 - 4m tall
We recommend this species where people want the appearance of Leylandii without the potential problems
A species that is very good value for the height
We have many options of Western Red Cedar - pot grown, root balls and instant hedging troughs.&amp;nbsp; If we are not showing the size of plant you are looking for, it is worth contacting us, as we often have sizes on the nursery that are not shown on the website.

Leaves turn brown in autumn and many are retained on the plant giving good winter cover but not quite as good as an evergreen hedge

All the smaller bare root plants on this page are grown in Herefordshire and some of the taller ones are grown in Holland where they specialise in growing tall Hornbeam as a bare root plant - super quality!&amp;nbsp; The pots, cell grown and instant hedging troughs are all grown in Britain
This species is also suitable to use as a hedgerow tree (planting density 1 every 5-10m) or in woodland creation (planting density 1 every 2-3sqm)
