Golden Leylandii 'Castlewellan Gold' hedge plants summary

Evergreen conifer
Fast growing
Vibrant golden-green foliage
Regular pruning quickly establishes a dense, neat hedge ideal for year-round screening, noise reduction, filtering out pollution particulates, or creating a robust windbreak
Can reach heights of 25 m or be maintained as a lower hedge
Grows well in all well-drained soil types and tolerates poor soil and exposed conditions
Prefers full sun or partial shade
If you’re looking for a dense conifer like Leylandii but without the super-fast growth rate, consider Western Red Cedar.

Please contact us by phone or email us at hello@hedgenursery.co.uk if you have any questions, would like advice, or if your order is likely to exceed £1,000 – we may be able to offer a better price than the online rate. Norway Spruce (Picea abies) tree sapling summary

Introduced by Prince Albert as a Christmas tree, and now in competition with the Nordmann Fir to be Britain's favourite Christmas tree
Our Norway Spruce Christmas tree saplings are field-grown, then lifted in the dormant season as bare root saplings ready to be transplanted and grown on into full-sized Christmas trees
Will grow on damp soils, although this may slow its growth rate – performs well on most normal soils
Grown extensively for timber production
Non-native (originally from Norway)
Grows well in shade and prefers acidic soil with good moisture retention
Mature height up to 30m
All these tree saplings are grown in Britain
Sometimes called Nordic Spruce or Norwegian Spruce
Available as bare root plants in the dormant season (November to April) and as cell-grown plants all year round

Please contact us by phone (or email us at hello@hedgenursery.co.uk) if you have any questions, would like any advice, or if your order is likely to exceed £1000 - we may be able to offer a better price than the online price.
English Yew (Taxus baccata) hedging plant summary

Evergreen
Native (one of the very few native evergreen species)
Quite slow growing (though not as slow as many people believe), retaining a neat shape throughout the winter
A very attractive dark green, useful as a background in a border
Can be trimmed into intricate shapes, including topiary shapes, or cloud pruned
Good for hedges varying in height from 1m up to very tall
Yew is popular as a hedging plant but can also be grown as individual trees, which are good in woodlands (where there is no risk of cattle/sheep grazing, because it is toxic) to provide some evergreen cover
Yew is one of our most popular species and we have many options shown here, and more options on our nursery
Bare root and root ball Yew is available in several sizes in the dormant season (November to April), and we have pot grown options and 1m long troughs of instant hedging available all year round
