<p>Sycamore trees are
- non-native but are thought to have been introduced by the Romans so they are completely naturalised
- deciduous
- wildlife friendly in that they support a wide range of aphids which attract birds
- fast growing with pale wood, and makes a lovely wood for furniture making, veneers, firewood and because the wood doesn&#039;t taint, is also used for kitchen utensils
- great as a woodland tree, in large gardens or parks, or as a forestry tree (trunk grows to 60cm in 60 years)
- quite large leaves turn yellow in Autumn, there are yellow flowers in Spring, and in Autumn the tree produces winged fruits (containing seeds) called samarus
- non-toxic to livestock
- these tree saplings are all grown in the UK
