Our RHS Yew (Taxus baccata) cell grown plants are extracted from their cells prior to despatch and are wrapped in protective packaging to ensure the root plug stays moist.
The Yew (Taxus Baccata) is a medium-sized evergreen hedge with narrow-- dark-green leaves-- sometimes with fleshy red fruits. It is a dense-- dark native evergreen with bright red fruits attractive to birds in winter but harmful to humans-- pets and livestock. It is quite slow growing (1530cm) per year so once it reaches its desired height-- its easy to maintain. Yew needs plenty of water in the first couple of seasons (ideally a leaky pipe system) but should not sit in waterlogged soil. Apart from its requirement for water-- its very easy to grow-- shade tolerant-- very hardy-- and likes all soils particularly alkaline.
