Complete Product Information for Trees Suitable for Wet Soil Mix - Pack of 8 (8-10cm Girth Bare Root)
Alnus Cordata: A that tree will grow vertically, it has a dense foliage with short side branches. The leaves are heart shaped and about 10cm long, they have a rich glossy green above and a lighter green beneath. In late winter or early spring it will produce yellowish male catkins about 9cm long at the branch tips; they are followed by 2.5cm long seed cones. It will adapt well to most situations and soils but does best near water.

Betula nigra: Also known as the 'River Birch' it is an exceptionally beautiful tree. It has striking papery, peeling bark, which is shades of orange and cinammon. The bark is especially eye catching in the winter when the tree is leafless. The foliage is small and green in the summer months, turning to a vivid yellow during the autumn. Is an excellent tree for a medium sized garden, and is suitable for wet soils. Best planted in full sun or partial shade.

Populus Alba: A medium-sized deciduous tree, growing to heights of up to 16-27 meters, with a trunk up to 1 meter in diameter and a broad rounded crown. The bark is smooth and greenish-white to greyish-white with characteristic diamond-shaped dark marks on young trees. The young shoots are covered with whitish-grey down, including the small buds. The leaves are 4-15 cm long, five-lobed, with a thick covering of white scurfy down on both sides but thicker underneath; this layer wears off the upper side but not the lower, which stays white until autumn leaf fall.

Salix Alba: A fast-growing deciduous native plant, with narrow silver-backed leaves. The name derives from the white tone to the undersides of the leaves. The plant can shimmer in the wind providing movement and colour to a garden. It is fast growing (up to 2 ft per year). The bark is grey-brown and deeply fissured in older hedges. The leaves are superb; paler than most other willows, due to a covering of very fine silky white hairs, particularly on the underside. The flowers are produced in catkins in early spring, and pollinated by insects. Suitable for use in sea areas, and is often found by water. The Roots can bind soil and help prevent erosion. It is hardy and thrives in most soils and positions, but prefers sun.
