Spiral Tree Guards have been used as the preferred method for hedge planting for many years, offering the easiest, quickest and cheapest way of installing hedgerows to produce effective hedges with plenty of side and low growth.
Initially a young hedge does not produce good side growth, but as the hedge grows above the Spiral Guard and thickens out, blocking light to the lower parts, the hedge is forced downward which helps the hedge to thicken and encourage low growth.
Spiral Tree Guards are also extensively used for the protection of young trees and hedges against wandering wildlife, such as deer and rabbits. A further bonus of Spiral Tree Guards is their ability to grow with the tree, as the tree matures, without the risk of strangulation.
