Soft Rush is a native sedge plant that is ideal for boggy, moist soils. It grows in large clumps at the water’s edge. Soft rush plants are an essential component of any pond/marginal planting, they remain evergreen and add interest all year round to a pond. Height 60cm and spread 60cm. The stems are smooth, dark green cylinders bearing dark-brown florets in summer.

Benefits

• Extended planting season - they can be planted when you want to plant them, as long as the roots are kept moist. You are not restricted to the bare root season
• Minimal root disturbance - root systems are supplied intact, with no loss of fine feeding roots and root hairs, so once planted they can grow rapidly, not suffering the 'shock' that bare root plants will.

• This plant is more suited to the Waters Edge or Wet Meadows than hedgerows, but we love it so much we have included them in the hedgerows section.
• Recommended Planting Distance: 3-5 per metre for a single row or 5-7 per metre for a double staggered row.
