Quercus cerris, commonly known as Turkey Oak, is a vigorous grower, often reaching heights of 40 meters. It is notably different from native English oaks, mainly in the shape of the leaves which are narrow and angular. Originally brought to Britain in the hope that it can be grown for timber, this never came about due to the brittleness of the wood.
