Our Royal Horticultural Society Purple Osier (Salix purpurea) is a compact, erect to spreading and arching, deciduous small hedge. It produces slim, uprights, purplish branches bearing slender grey-green leaves, pointed at each end and paler beneath. Narrow, silvery-grey catkins up to 1 1/4 cm long, males with purple to yellow anthers.
