The Prunus Kiku-shidare-zakura is an extremely small but very attractive deciduous form of flowering cherry. Its arching and pendulous branches help create a beautiful weeping tree that is perfect for small gardens. Whilst the tree is known for it magnificent pink buds that adorn the weeping branches and burst into clusters of double pink flowers from mid to late spring, its leaves also put on a show turning from young bronzed colours to glossy green ones in the summer. When in full blossom the colourful dome habit on this weeping Cherry is a small but striking centre piece in any garden.

The Cheals Weeping Cherry does need rich well drained soil to flower however it is tolerant of chalky soils and can cope with a wide range of soil ph. The Prunus is very low maintenance however if you do decide to prune any unruly branches distorting the dome like shape of the tree, make sure it is done in summer rather than winter like most other dormant trees. The Cheals Weeping Cherry is a fabulous choice for all small to medium gardens and looks perfect alongside running water.
