The Prunus Amanogawa is a small and compact multi stemmed tree famed for its beautiful and delicate flower display towards the end of spring. The young leaves are greenish bronze and develop a red, orange or yellowish tinge come autumn. However it is in late spring when the real show starts as the tree seems to become an upright column of blossoms and flowers with clusters of large semi-double pale pink flowers start to fill any gardens they inhabit with gentle colour and a rich fragrance. This Japanese Cherry will thrive in most soils but they do need plenty of sunshine to flower and develop from a very thin plant when young to a larger spreading one when mature. This is a fantastic ornamental tree ideal in a lawn or border and should reach an eventual height of around 7 metres.
