The Portugal Laurel (Prunus Lusitanica `Angustifolia`) is a hardy evergreen producing scented white flowers in summer. It grows moderately and very dense into a hedge. In our climate it seldom reaches 3m tall. Fruits are black berries, and contain the same poison found in bitter almonds. Pruning is not needed but is possible in April or mid July.
Portugese Laurel, (Prunus Lusitanica `Angustifolia`) does well in full sun but will thrive almost anywhere. In locations with cold and long winters we suggest finding it a place without direct winter sunlight that might burn its leaves. Once established it tolerates summer dry spells. On the other hand, the moister the soil is the richer and healthier foliage you can expect. The soil is preferred acidic, permeable, and rich in organic matter.
