This large deciduous beautiful tree grows pyramidical in youth however becomes more widespread and rounded as matures. It has alternate and simple large maple-like leaves, which are medium to bright green. The tree blooms in April and the fruits that follow are ball-shaped and borne in clusters of two or three changing from green to brown in around October. The Bark is also a point of interest as it will strip away and exfoliate in plates revealing a creamy inner yellow bark producing an ornamentally attractive effect. They will take some drought, but will do better with summer deep watering.

They will take some drought, but will do better with summer deep watering.

They will need deep, rich well-drained soil in a sunny site and can be transplanted. You can propagate from seed or cuttings or by layering.

Seed in autumn, P.acerifolia hybrid by hardwood cuttings in early winter.

Susceptible to the fungal disease plane anthracnose, except P.orientalis. Foliage prone to lacebugs.
