Some plants and trees find it very hard to survive and flourish in these locations, so we have put together a pack of what we think are the best choices of trees to plant in clay soil. This pack contains two of each of the following: Carpinus Betulus (Hornbeam), Fraxinus Excelsior (Common Ash), Platanus hispanica (London Plane) and Quercus Robur (English Oak). Complete Product Information for Pack of 8 Trees Suitable for Clay Soil (14-16cm Girth Root Ball)
Carpinus Betulus: an attractive elm-like deciduous tree, which is native to Europe and Asia. The leaves are alternate and ovate rounded and dark green. In the autumn it will bear striking, yellow-orange long-lasting foliage, the fruit that appear are nut like. The growth habit is narrow and pyramidal, reaching heights of between 8-15 meters, it is a fully hardy tree it can tolerate temperatures down to -15C, and will tolerate urban conditions.
