The Betula pendula Dalecarlica or 'Swedish Birch' is an elegant birch tree perfect for specimen planting. It has deeply cut, pretty leaves and branches that weep gracefully. The foliage is green in summer, and turns to a vivid yellow during the autumn, and the bright white peeling bark provides year round interest. Brown catkins are also produced in the spring.
It is of a narrow headed, broadly coloumnar habit, and is ideal for parkland or woodland planting. Avoid planting in compacted soil,or in places where there would be a lot of reflected heat/light. This is a very hardy tree, and suits most soil types.
