The Betula nigra 'Heritage', also known as the 'River Birch' is beautiful tree, with outstanding multicoloured bark. The outer cinammon and orange coloured layer peels back to reveal creamy-white bark beneath, and is particularly eye catching in winter when the tree is leafless.This tree looks particularly impressive when planted in a small group. The small, green summer foliage turns into a vivid yellow during the autumn months.
The Betula nigra 'Heritage' is an exceptional, fast growing specimen tree, and does well in most soils. It does prefer moist ground, and is one of the best trees to plant if your soil is moisture retentive. However, it has also been shown to tolerate extreme heat and dry spells. Plant in full sun or partial shade.
