Complete Product Information for Norway Spruce (Picea abies) Pack of 12 Cell Grown 20-40cm
This Premium Cell Grown Norway Spruce (Picea Abies) is a large evergreen conical shaped tree that can grow up to 55m and has a trunk up to 1.5m in diameter. The bark is red-brown and flakey becoming grey/brown and scaly with age.

New stems are orange/brown and covered in short 1-2.4cm dark green 4 sided needles. It produces cylindrical cones which are 9-17cm long; the longest of any spruce.

The cones start off green but mature to red and then brown, they have triangular, pointed scales and contain black 4-5mm winged seeds which are released in autumn.

The plants come with their root systems intact, whereas bare root plants can lose the tiny fine feeding roots and root hairs when they are lifted. This means that they will become more established quicker than bare root. They can also be planted into warm soils when roots are active, outside the dormant period. Whereas the bare root season ends between April to September, September, October, March April and May are ideal months for planting cell grown plants. In fact, unlike bare root, you can plant cell grown plants throughout the year as long as the roots are kept moist. That is why 60% of the world`s forestry trees are now cell grown!
