Noble Fir (Abies nobilis) Pack of 12 Cell Grown 15-30cm

Product Code:  ABNO12

From Only: £19.47 Ex VAT
Or £1.62 Per Plant

Our Noble Fir (Abies nobilis) cell grown plants are extracted from their cells prior to despatch and are wrapped in protective packaging to ensure the root plug stays moist. The plants come with their root systems intact, whereas bare root plants can lose the fine feeding roots and root hairs when they are lifted. This means that cell grown plants can become more quickly established than bare root. Another advantage of cell grown Noble Fir is that it can be planted into warm soils when roots are active, outside the dormant period. As long as the roots are kept moist, cell grown plants can be planted throughout the year.

Complete Product Information for Noble Fir (Abies nobilis) Pack of 12 Cell Grown 15-30cm
This Premium Cell Grown Grand Fir (Abies nobilis) is a tall evergreen conifer that is conical in shape and has a trunk up to 2m in diameter.

The bark is grey and smooth with resin blisters when young which gets rougher and fissured turning to a red/brown colour with age. Twigs are reddish brown with blue/green needles 1-3.5cm long cover the branches pointing upwards and forwards.

It produces 11-22cm erect cones which have purple scales covered by yellow/green bract scales. The cones go chocolate brown when ripe and release winged seeds in autumn. The plants come with their root systems intact, whereas bare root plants can lose the tiny fine feeding roots and root hairs when they are lifted. This means that they will become more established quicker than bare root. They can also be planted into warm soils when roots are active, outside the dormant period. Whereas the bare root season ends between April to September, September, October, March April and May are ideal months for planting cell grown plants. In fact, unlike bare root, you can plant cell grown plants throughout the year as long as the roots are kept moist. That is why 60% of the worldÆs forestry trees are now cell grown!
