Complete Product Information for Native Mix Trees Pack of 8 (8-10cm Girth Bare Root)
Carpinus Betulus: An attractive elm-like deciduous tree, which is native to Europe and Asia. The leaves are alternate and ovate rounded and dark green. In the autumn it will bear striking, yellow-orange long-lasting foliage, the fruit that appear are nut like. They will tolerate urban conditions.

Fraxinus Excelsior: A tree which has dark green leaves and large pendent fruit clusters in autumn. The leaves that appear in spring are delicate leaflets usually with nine to eleven oval leaflets, arrange in pairs with an odd one at the end. From the black woolly buds, male or female flowers develop. This sometimes occurs on the same plant, however some plants which are male one year are female the next year. The female plants develop into fruits often called 'ash keys' that are stiff sprays of bunches of keys.

Quercus Robur: A common sight around the UK, oak is a tree synonymous with Royalty, It is distinguished from others in the species by its leaves having only a very short stalk 3 to 8 mm long, and by its pendunculate acorns. The acorns form a valuable food resource for several small mammals and birds. The leaves are 7 to 14 cm long and 4 to 8 cm broad, evenly lobed with five to six lobes on each side, and a 1 cm petiole. The flowers are catkins, produced in the spring.

Salix Alba: A fast-growing deciduous native plant, with narrow silver-backed leaves. The name derives from the white tone to the undersides of the leaves. The plant can shimmer in the wind providing movement and colour to a garden. It is fast growing (up to 2 ft per year). The bark is grey-brown and deeply fissured in older hedges. The leaves are superb; paler than most other willows, due to a covering of very fine silky white hairs, particularly on the underside. The flowers are produced in catkins in early spring, and pollinated by insects.
