The Malus Sylvestris or Crab Apple tree is a native, deciduous tree. It produces plentiful clusters of white blossom tinged with pink in the spring. The fruit is very bitter and acidic when raw, but they have a high pectin content which makes them ideal for jam making. It is a very hardy tree, and grows well in all positions - in particular in sun/partial shade and dry,exposed conditions.
