Lesser Pond Sedge or Swamp Sedge as it is sometimes called is a native perennial that is commonly found in marshland, river edges & pond margins. It has narrow green leaves with drooping pale brown flowers that show June to August. Height 90cm. Spread 90cm.

Lesser Pond Sedge will tolerate most soils including light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils, with any pH level. The flowers of the Lesser Pond Sedge are monoecious (individual flowers are either male or female, but both sexes can be found on the same plant) and are pollinated by Wind.

The Lesser Pond Sedge will grow in semi-shade or full sun.It requires moist or wet soiland can be used as a marginal plant in a pond or waterway.

This is an ornamental grass, the green leaves become tinted with red as they begin to die. It produces flowers from July to August.
