The RHS Premium Ilex x altaclerensis Lawsoniana is a bushy, small evergreen tree with broad, spineless leaves marked yellow and yellow-green; and small, dull white flowers in spring and summer followed by dull-red berries in autumn. It suits most soils and conditions and will reach a height of 8m and a spread of 4m when mature. Grow in moist, free-draining, humus-rich soil in full sun to partial shade.
The Lawsoniana holly is a female variety, in order to produce berries, it is advised that a male plant is in a near vicinity to aid pollination. It is recommended that for every 5 female plants there is 1 male pollinator.
