Horse Chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) Pack of 12 Cell Grown 20-40cm

Product Code:  AEHI12

From Only: £18.39 Ex VAT
Or £1.53 Per plant

Our RHS Horse Chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) cell grown plants are extracted from their cells prior to despatch and are wrapped in protective packaging to ensure the root plug stays moist. The plants come with their root systems intact, whereas bare root plants can lose the fine feeding roots and root hairs when they are lifted. This means that cell grown plants can become more quickly established than bare root. Another advantage of cell grown Horse Chestnut is that it can be planted into warm soils when roots are active, outside the dormant period. As long as the roots are kept moist, cell grown plants can be planted throughout the year.

Benefits
• RHS cell grown Horse Chestnut hedging plants, under licence granted by the Royal Horticultural Society
• Extended planting season - they can be planted when you want to plant them-- as long as the roots are kept moist. You are not restricted to the bare root season
• Minimal root disturbance - root systems are supplied intact - with no loss of fine feeding roots and root hairs-- so once planted they can grow rapidly-- not suffering the shock that bare root plants will.
• Uniformity - these plants are more uniform.
• NB: Our cell grown plants are sold in quantities of 12. Unfortunately we are unable deliver split bundles. We can offer a substantial volume discount. These plants are between 20-40cm high though the actual height may vary due to the growing season.

Our RHS Horse Chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) cell grown plants are extracted from their cells prior to despatch and are wrapped in protective packaging to ensure the root plug stays moist.

Aesculus hippocastanum (Horse Chestnut) is a large deciduous tree, commonly known as Horse-chestnut or Conker tree. The flowers are usually white with a small red spot; they are produced in spring in erect panicles 10-30 cm tall with about 20-50 flowers on each panicle. Usually only 1-5 fruit develop on each panicle; the fruit is a green, softly spiky capsule containing one (rarely two or three) nut-like seeds called conkers or horse-chestnuts. Each conker is 2-4 cm diameter, glossy nut-brown with a whitish scar at the base.
