Forsythia Lynwood is a deciduous shrub with erect branches. It produces an abundance of yellow flowers on bare stems in spring. The flowers appear before the leaves from mid March; the leaves are bright green and then develop a tinge of red before falling in autumn.
The forsythia is a very hardy shrub and will stand almost total neglect. It is a very tough and reliable hedging plant, which forms a dense and strong hedge in sun or partial shade and any suitable soil, in particular moist, but well drained. This is a great shrub for the beginner gardener and the expert gardener because given a little attention; a forsythia bush will reward you a thousand times. It can be grown as a standalone specimen shrub or as a long lasting and reasonably dense hedge.
