Dog Rose (Rosa canina) Pack of 12 Cell Grown 20-40cm

Product Code:  ROCA12

From Only: £18.39 Ex VAT
Or £1.53 Per plant

Our RHS Dog Rose (Rosa canina) cell grown plants are extracted from their cells prior to despatch and are wrapped in protective packaging to ensure the root plug stays moist. The plants come with their root systems intact, whereas bare root plants can lose the fine feeding roots and root hairs when they are lifted. This means that cell grown plants can become more quickly established than bare root. Another advantage of cell grown Dog Rose is that it can be planted into warm soils when roots are active, outside the dormant period. As long as the roots are kept moist, cell grown plants can be planted throughout the year.

Complete Product Information for Dog Rose (Rosa canina) Pack of 12 Cell Grown 20-40cm
Our RHS Dog Rose (Rosa canina) cell grown plants are extracted from their cells prior to despatch and are wrapped in protective packaging to ensure the root plug stays moist.

The Dog Rose (Rosa canina) is a large fast growing native rose with prickly stems that carry clusters of single scented pale whitepink flowers in summer followed by glossy red egg-shaped hits in autumn. It is most useful in mixed hedges as it has a scrambling habit so it forms an impenetrable barrier and will attract birds and deter intruders. Rosa canina will grow in any suitable soil in particular well drained soil in sun or shade. It will withstand strong winds.

The Rosa canina has no serious insect or disease problems. Potential diseases include powdery mildew and rose rust. Potential insects include aphids, caterpillars, deer, glasshouse red spider mite, leaf-cutting bees, leafhoppers, rabbits, rose leaf-rolling sawfly and scale insects. Only birds will eat the bitter cherries. It is good for rose-hip syrup however If touched by the hairs it will cause a painful stinging sensation.
