A wonderful tree Davidia involucrata, more commonly know as the 'Dove Tree' or 'Handkerchief Tree' is one of the most unique trees that you will find. First discovered in China in the late 1800s it was not until 10 years after its initial discovery that it made it to the UK. It appeal are the over large 'flowers', which are not flowers at all but bracts which surround the small delicate purple flowers. The bracts hang down in Spring and give the tree its common name, they are creamy white and flutter in the wind.
