Complete Product Information for Cotoneaster (Cotoneaster horizontalis) Pack of 12 Cell Grown 15-30cm
Our RHS Cotoneaster (Cotoneaster horizontalis) cell grown plants are extracted from their cells prior to despatch and are wrapped in protective packaging to ensure the root plug stays moist.

The Cotoneaster (Cotoneaster horizontalis) is a small spreading, deciduous shrub with glossy dark green leaves, studded with tiny, pinkish-white flowers in May, followed by bright red autumn berries. The leaves turn orange red before they fall. The branches form a pretty herringbone pattern, which means the plant looks stunning grown flat against a wall. It is also an excellent groundcover plant for a sunny border.

After flowering, lightly cut back any branches that spoil the symmetry of the plant. In autumn trim back lightly any branches that obscure the display of fruit.

Cotoneaster Horizontalis is one of very few shrubs that are flawless in each aspect of their design and have something to offer in every season. Its greatest glory, and the peg on which all its other virtues hang, is its superb structure. This is a synthesis of rigidity and curvaceousness; the long leading branches that sweep out gracefully in that peculiar horizontal manner are always defined and strengthened by the well-ordered disposition of the lateral shoots, in a strict herring-bone pattern.

The Cotoneaster Horizontalis has no serious insect or disease problems. A potential disease is fireblight. Potential insects include wolly aphid, Aphids, scale insects, brown scale and cotoneaster webber moths.

Cell grown plants enable the cell grown plants can become more quickly established than bare root. Another advantage of cell grown Cotoneaster is that it can be planted into warm soils when roots are active, outside the dormant period. As long as the roots are kept moist, cell grown plants can be planted throughout the year.
