The Betula pendula Fastigiata is a narrow birch with an upright form similar to that of a Lombardy Poplar.
It has upright, slightly twisted branches which spiral up the tree. Mid green, finely cut leaves turn to yellow in the autumnn months, and brown catkins appear in spring. The bark, whilst not quite as bright as the Betula pendula, is an eye catching white which peels periodically.
This tree is excellent for spaces where there is little lateral space available, such as car parks and street planting.Does best planted in full sun or partial shade, and suits most soils.
