Our RHS Premium Berberis Stenophylla is a superb, award winning evergreen barberry with narrow, deep green leaves, slightly silvery beneath. Arching branches are covered in golden/yellow flowers in late spring. It is a fast growing evergreen variety of Berberis, which is thorny and very prickly.
It has slender arching stems covered with yellow-gold flowers in April and in autumn there are plentiful edible blue/black berries. The foliage is very fine and there are occasional flowers in autumn in mild weather. It is shade tolerant and is best in sun and grows well in all soils and situations (including coastal) other than very wet and windy sites. This hedge needs to be trimmed to shape after flowering.
