Berberis Stenophylla is a superb, award winning evergreen barberry with narrow, deep green leaves, slightly silvery beneath. It is probably the best evergreen Berberis for creating an intruder proof hedge. It has arching branches are covered in golden/yellow flowers in late spring. It is a fast growing evergreen variety of Berberis, which is thorny and very prickly.
It has slender arching stems covered with yellow-gold flowers in April and in autumn there are plentiful edible blue/black berries. The foliage is very fine and there are occasional flowers in autumn in mild weather. It is shade tolerant and is best in sun and grows well in all soils and situations (including coastal) other than very wet and windy sites. If grown as a hedge, trim to shape after flowering.
