Our RHS Premium Berberis ottawensis Superba is a mid-sized deciduous shrub with deep red-purple leaves that turn brighter red in autumn. It bears small, yellow flowers and has red berries in autumn. Excellent for flower arranging.

Prune hard in March for long sprays of purple foliage. This plant is toxic and may cause mild stomach upset if ingested. Plant in any soil in a sunny or partially shaded position - preferably sunny for best fruits and autumn colour. Ideal for low maintenance hedging, beds and borders or coastal areas.
