These hedges come direct from the nursery on a pallet. Consequently, the cost savings are dramatic when you purchase in volume as it doesn’t cost us any more to send 10, than it does 1.

The Beech (Fagus Sylvatica) a 1 year old, 1 metre trough hedge; 100/110cm high by 20cm wide, with 5 plants per trough.

The Beech (Fagus Sylvatica) is a large and fast-growing deciduous native plant with a broad spreading crown; elliptic, yellow-green leaves in spring, turning rich russet-brown in autumn; and small, green flowers, followed by bristly fruits.

Beech is grown for its superb foliage of delicate fluttery leaves with wavy edges. It has simple beautiful green leaves, which shine with life in spring and turn a beautiful bronze and yellow color in the autumn. It likes sun or partial shade and does well on almost any well drained soil (acid or alkaline).

Trimming the hedge during towards the end of summer helps retain its leaves throughout winter. The hedge retains copper foliage throughout the winter before the delight of its fresh new growth each spring.

The Beech hedge is suitable for windy sites and as a dense windbreak hedge. However it may not keep all its winter leaves if in very exposed positions, particularly coastal. It provides some winter colour and wildlife shelter when the remainder of the fully deciduous hedge loses it leaves.
