The number one eating Apple in the UK, Braeburn is a firm, bi-coloured apple, with a taste that rivals the classic varieties. It is a reliable cropper, noted for the fact that it starts to produce fruit from a young tree. It is not self fertile so needs to be planted with or near another apple tree, Cox's Orange Pippin has been noted as the best to plant with to get the highest crop yields. A smaller than average apple tree make it, even though it is used on a mass production scale all around the world, a perfect choice for the backyard orchardist. The overall height and spread will be around 2.5 meters, the tree needs to be planted in a sunny sheltered spot. This tree is suited to a warm climate, it is only really suitable for growth as a fruiting tree in Southern England.
