Complete Product Information for Acer campestre 14-16cm Girth 4.25-6.0m Height - Root Ball
The Field Maple (Acer campestre) is a fast growing native deciduous hedge, which is used either in a mixed hedge or as a single species hedge. It produces young foliage with tinged red, turning to green, then yellow in autumn, with 5 lobbed leaves; green/red in spring and summer and then a buttery yellow colour in autumn. Small green-yellow flowers develop in spring flowed by winged seeds in autumn. It makes an excellent dense hedge.

This means that they will become more established quicker than bare root. They can also be planted into warm soils when roots are active, outside the dormant period. Whereas the bare root season ends between April to September, September, October, March April and May are ideal months for planting cell grown plants. In fact, unlike bare root, you can plant cell grown plants throughout the year as long as the roots are kept moist. That is why 60% of the world’s forestry trees are now cell grown!

It is suitable for any soil, in particular well drained or moist. It will grow in any position, in particular exposed/windy areas, dry shade or coastal areas. It should be timed to shaped at the beginning of winter.

The Acer campestre has no serious insect or disease problems. Potential diseases include verticillium wilt, coral spot, honey fungus or tar spot. Potential insects include aphids, horse chestnut scale or caterpillars.
