Sea Buckthorn (
Hippophae rhamnoides
)
Sea Buckthorn (
Hippophae rhamnoides
)
The Sea Buckthorn (
Hippophae rhamnoides
) is a fast growing, deciduous, native hedge with narrow, silvery foliage and thorns. Flowers are insignificant, but if a male plant is available for pollination, masses of persistent orange-yellow berries occur in autumn on female plants, which stay on the bush all winter. Berries are produced between the plant's third and fifth year. We sell our Sea Buckthorn in multi-packs of cell grown or bare root plants. Multi-packs cannot be split and we are unable to sex the plants for you, however within a pack of 25 plants it is likely there will be both male and female plants included. Hippophae prefer a full sun or partilly shaded spot shows some resistance to Honey Fungus (Armillaria), as of September/October 2012.
