The Osier Willow (Salix viminalis) is a large native, deciduous hedge with young shoots covered with sift grey downy hairs. Followed by catkins in spring and are generally crowded towards the tips of twigs. They are yellow, between 1.5-3cm long and 0.5-1cm wide and are densely flowered. The long tapering leaves appear after the flowers; they are covered underneath with silky hairs and thinly puberulous above.
