The Escallonia (Escallonia rubra 'Macrantha') is an excellent semi-evergreen shrub that is bushy, vigorous and makes for a superb thick hedge. It is a quick growing hedge with large ovate dark green glossy leaves and clusters of deep pink -red rose-crimson flowers, depending upon the cultivar, from July to September.
