The Common Laurel (Prunus laurocerasus), also known as Cherry Laurel, is a very dense, fast growing, evergreen hedge with large, leathery, glossy green leaves. In spring, upright spikes of white flowers contrast well against the foliage, these are often followed by the dark red cherry-like fruits that give this plant it's common name. This plant is available in many varieties giving you a wide range of uses in your garden. Ornamental shrubs for the garden include the varieties Otto Luyken, Zabeliana and Van nes. For hedging purposes the varieties Etna and Genolia add a bit of difference to the standard Prunus laurocerasus.
