Commonly known as Californian Lilac, Ceanothus shrubs are beautiful and vigorously spreading, often used as informal hedging. Ceanothus do like to be cared for and planted in fertile, well drained soil, in a full sun position for the best results. Plant in October and avoid planting in frost pockets. Prune in June, after flowering.
