Boxwood (Buxus sempervirens) is a slow growing hardy native evergreen hedging plant with fragrant foliage. Boxwood flowers are yellow appearing in late spring.
Totally hardy and tolerant of both sunny and shady conditions the Buxus is ideal for a low maintenance garden, patio or balcony. Box plants will grow 4-6 inches a year and can be trimmed during the growing season (June to the end of August), to maintain shape.
The very dense growth habit and small, glossy dark leaves of the boxwood make it ideal for low formal hedging. It is suitable in any soil, in particular well drained in partial shade. For Hedging, plant young plants just below the nursery soil mark to encourage growth from the base.
We offer a range of Box Hedging choices, the most cost effective being our bare root plants (despatched from November in bundles of 25) or our instant hedging range which is available in 1m troughs, complete with 7 plants per trough to provide that instant hedge effect - this method of planting can often be much more cost effective than buying individual pots.
