Larix is a genus from the family Pinaceae. These type of conifers are deciduous and loose their leaves every year. The leaves are needle-like reaching between 2-5cm long, turning yellow and fall in the late autumn. It is very cold tolerant, able to survive winter temperatures down to at least -50°C. The seeds are an important food for some birds.
